Coupons as Rewards

Hi Peeps!! So sad to say that my summer vacation is officially over. I started work today :/ We had the whole day to spend in our classrooms which was great! I am almost done with my classroom, photos coming soon. I still plan on using the "Desk Fairy and Desk Police" system to help keep desks clean as well as class coupons. Reward coupons are so rewarding that my students last year were begging me every week to pull out names. When a student is caught doing a good deed,  I hand them a ticket and they put their name on it and place it in the ticket box. I also pass out tickets when they try their best, get good grades, for bringing in papers to be signed on time and the list goes on. At the end of each week, I pull out 5 tickets (with students names on them) and the 5 students chosen get to pick a coupon from the "Coupon Binder."
They love it and so do I because I don't have to spend money on toys! To save colored ink I simply print the coupons in black and white and they still look cute! Check it out at my TPT Store or click on the picture below to go to the store.

I am giving away my "Classroom Reward Coupons" to the first 3 people that leave me a comment saying "Bananas" on my Facebook posting about this blog post. You will see my comment first saying "Ready. Set. Go!" You will be dis-qualified if you haven't liked my Facebook page or if you comment in the wrong section, uh-oh! :/

Good luck!!!!

Messy Desks??

This year I have had several students leaving their desks a complete mess! Being the clean freak that I am, their mess was driving me crazy!! Their pencil boxes had pieces of trash in them, textbooks were on the floor and facing all different ways, pieces of papers were sticking out of them, trash was found under their desk and the list goes on. I have heard about the "Desk Fairy" leaving tickets on student's desks that were clean along with a treat or pencil. I honestly do not have the money to buy treats, pencils or toys for a treasure box. I do have paper and a school copier to make classroom coupons. I first explained to my students that I had contacted the desk fairy to pay our class a visit every once in a while. I mentioned to them that I will have no idea when she will stop by to check their desks. I also told them that I had asked her what I can do about messy desks and she told me that she has a friend "The Desk Police." The desk police comes when the desk fairy visits and places tickets on messy desks. In the morning when my students walk in they get very excited to see tickets on their desks. The students that received a ticket from the desk fairy bring it to me to exchange it for a class coupon.
Very Clean Desks!

Students who received a ticket from the police serve lunch detention. Here's a picture of some desks that did not pass the clean desk inspection.

This system has really helped out with keeping my classroom looking clean and organized. You can find the kit in my TPT store to use in your class. Click on the picture below to grab yours :)

Classroom Management

Whoa! Time in school sure flies by. We have been in school for almost 6 weeks already! Hence, the reason why we have been MIA. I have noticed that so many creative teachers have been using the clothes pin chart system for management. I was even thinking about making one of my own, but finding the TIME to do it was my real problem. With school starting, benchmarks, interventions, turning in lesson plans on a weekly basis and to top it off I have a 1 and half year old at home that refuses to let me work on anything, there would be no way to get this done. I decided to just stick with the system I originally had, but I spiced it up a bit and added a colorful border with duct tape (boy do I love colored duct tape). I used the side of my filing cabinet and just used big popsicle sticks with student names and glued magnets strips to the back of them.  Usually after I have given a student several warnings (2-3), then I have them change there name, and change it again if they break classroom rules. If they are EXTREMELY good, then I might, MIGHT have them change there name back up to reach excellent again. At the end of the day they receive an E if they were on Excellent, an S if they were on Satisfactory, N for Needs Improvement and a U for Un-satisfactory.
