Fun with Force and Motion

WooHoo! I am so excited that tomorrow is Thursday and we all know what that means?! The next day is Friday! Then we are on Fall Intersession, 2 weeks off ! Excited to get more things done for my class.  Here's what we've been up to in science these past 2 weeks. We worked on my Unit 3: Force and Motion.

The kids and I had class discussion of how motion describes the way an object moves. We listed examples inside our Spin, Slide and Roll flaps. Then the fun starts after that.

The kids had so much fun making their pin wheels and observing the spinning motion it makes when the wind hits it. It was the perfect day to be outside. Look at those clouds!

They all went down the slide to observe the motion "slide."

Then we got to roll a couple of basketballs across the classroom and recorded our observations on "How does the object move?" into our interactive science journals.

We made an anchor chart together in the class of examples of things we can push and pull. The kids then sorted out their "Push and Pull Card Sort Pictures" in their journals.

We will end this week with a fun Sound Energy experiment. It's a great closure to this unit and I just know my students will love it.

Well that pretty much wraps it up. 2 more days until vacay time!

Don't forget to enter this AWESOME giveaway!

You just never know if you will win, who knows maybe this is your lucky time. Go to my previous post and scroll down to enter or just click here to get you there.
Today's post will be nice and short. We worked on land forms and made an anchor chart together. They each made a land form poster and they came out cute!

And something waaaaay off topic. I left this cute little surprise in our fridge for my husband.  Can't wait to see his reaction when he open the fridge door. And of course I added something sarcastic in the end hehe. There is nothing more awkward than walking in a store with beer in your hand and trying to hide from possible students. I'm pretty sure many teachers can relate! HA!

I am so ready for Halloween!

Today is a FREEBIE and GIVEAWAY kind of day here at teacherific in second grade. My favorite holiday for school projects is Halloween. I absolutely enjoy this time of school year. It is filled with so many activities. I just couldn't wait any longer and thought of an activity using bats. Today I introduced the genre Non-Fiction. I made an anchor chart with my students. We discussed what we thought Non-Fiction books were all about. I then made a bubble (cloud in my case) graphic organizer. I had them picture reading non-fiction books they have already read in their heads. I asked them to try and remember what they noticed about the pictures and texts. I wrote down their observation on the bubble map. I then told them that we were going to read a fun book with the genre of, GUESS??? Yup! Non-Fiction! I had them tell me about things they already knew on bats. I read Bats by Lily Wood. Once we were done with our discussion we created our own bats. You can grab this freebie at my TPT store
